Dr. Khandaker Alamgir Hossain, Executive Director of Gram Unnayan Karma (GUK), and Dr. Gregory Vanderbilt, Country Representative, MCC Bangladesh have signed MoU for implementing a project titled “Business Importance in Environment Friendly Agriculture (BIEFA) Project in Bogura District of Bangladesh” today. During the signing of the MoU, Md. Mosharof Hossain, Finance & Admin Director, MCC Bangladesh, Mr. Chad Stout, PMER Coordinator, MCC Bangladesh, Phoebe Chiring Marak, Education Coordinator, MCC Bangladesh and Dr. Md. Mahbub Alam, Senior Director of GUK were present at the event.
The project will teach the community about alternative and environmentally friendly methods of using pesticides to grow vegetables. A value chain market system will be established for selling safe produce. The integrated approach will reduce the cost of production, increase availability, and create access to safe vegetables for different levels of consumers.
