Dr. Khandaker Alamgir Hossain
Founder and Executive Director
Dr. Khandaker Alamgir Hossain is the Founder and the Executive Director of Gram Unnayan Karma (GUK) since its inception in 1993. He brought with him a diverse multi-disciplinary experience in leadership roles in establishing GUK with proven track record of effectively managing development programs, operational and financial sustainability and building effective partnerships with govt. agencies, donors and other stakeholders.
Dr. Hossain gained diversified knowledge & experiences through participating in a series of international trainings, workshops, seminars and conferences in different countries such as Leadership Training in USA, Global Microcredit Summit in Spain, Morocco, Kenya, Philippines & Indonesia, Leadership Training at Bangalore in India, Micro Insurance for Sustainable Agriculture Summit in Switzerland, Global Climate Change Seminar at Shimane University in Japan, Training on Modern Agriculture Practices in Vietnam, Women Empowerment and Climate Change Resilience Seminar at Essex University in UK and attended as a delegate in Introducing Microcredit Model of Bangladesh in South Africa. Besides, he has attended different National and International workshops and visited different projects/programs activities in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Turkey, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Saudia Arabia, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Latvia, Denmark, Scotland, Ireland, China, Sri Lanka etc.
Dr. Hossain effectively introduced his acquired knowledge and potential ideas in designing pro poor projects/programs, preparing policies and guidelines, efficiently managing microcredit business, low cost quality non formal primary education & health program, sustainable growth and expansion of the program activities of GUK simultaneously. He introduced several innovative models for poverty alleviation through entrepreneurship development, expanding employment opportunities for the poor, engage community people in sustainable income generating activities by undertaking different initiatives in the context of socio-economic conditions in rural Bangladesh.
Dr. Hossain was awarded in the livestock sector by Bangladesh Livestock Society through the Minister, Ministry of Fisheries & Livestock (MOFL), Environment award from Bangladesh Biodiversity Society, Department of Social Services, etc.
Dr. Hossain completed his graduation under Rajshahi University and obtained his Master’s Degree from Private University. He has got PhD Degree for his research work in Women Empowerment through Participation in Income Generating Activities in North-West Bangladesh in joint collaboration with Dr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Professor, Department of Agronomy and Agriculture Extension, University of Rajshahi and Newport University, Latvia, European Union.

Dr. Md. Mahbub Alam
Senior Director
Dr. Md. Mahbub Alam joined as Senior Director in Gram Unnayan Karma (GUK) in January, 2018 and has over 24 years of experience in operation & partnership management, livelihoods & market development, livestock & agriculture project management, well being analysis & poverty alleviation, capacity development & training, research & analysis, monitoring, evaluation & impact assessment, disaster risk reduction, climate change & resilience, organizational change management & development and communication & coordination with GOB & different donor agencies.
Prior to joining in GUK, Dr. Mahbub gathered extensive experience and expertise working for the USAID funded livestock production for improved nutrition project under ACDI/VOCA as Team Leader Livestock, DFID funded Chars Livelihoods Programme (CLP) as Livelihoods Coordinator, ADB assisted Secondary Participatory Livestock Development Project of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) as Livestock Improvement Officer, PROSHIKA as Associate Coordinator and the Department of Livestock Services (DLS) of the Government of Bangladesh as Livestock Extension Officer. During the tenure in CLP for 10 years Dr. Mahbub led the largest amazing asset transfer program successfully with 133,000 assetless & landless char households that helps them to boost up from poverty line. He participated in over 20 different types of trainings and 12 different types of international workshop, seminar & conference in Bangladesh, India, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Germany, France, Netherlands, Japan, Turkey and UK.
Dr. Mahbub completed his B.Sc. in Animal Husbandry & M.S. in Dairy Science from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh and awarded PhD from the Department of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Rajshahi University. He is the author of over 20 different publications & abstracts and is also a member of various professional societies including Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB), Bangladesh Animal Husbandry Association (BAHA), Bangladesh Livestock Society (BLS), World Poultry Science Association-Bangladesh (WPSA-B).

Hajkil Md. Abu Hasan
Director (Monitoring and Review)
Hajkil Md. Abu Hasan is the Director (Monitoring & Review) of GUK with a career of microfinance and development program management professional over 20 years of experience in development sector. He is an expert in microfinance & development project management, community development & social mobilization, IGA development & management. he is expert in designing and developing monitoring tools for monitoring & evaluation of program/project activities and capacity building of staff through trainings, disaster management, auditing, logistics support & office management and communication & coordination with GOB, different donor agencies and social stakeholders.
Mr. Hasan has been serving in GUK from the beginning of his career. He has contributed much to develop GUK Enterprises and GUK Infrastructure Development Limited (GIDL) a sister concern of GUK. He participated in over 12 different types of trainings and 10 different types of international workshop, seminar & conference in Bangladesh, India, Sri-Lanka, China, Japan, Thailand, United Arab Emirate, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia. Mr. Hasan holds Bachelor of Social Science from National University and MBA from Darul Ehsan University.

Md. Rashidul Islam
Director (Social Enterprise)
Md. Rashidul Islam is the Director (Social Enterprise) of GUK and a career of microfinance and development program management professional with over 15 years of experience in development sector. He is an expert and talented leader in microfinance & development project management, community development & social mobilization, IGA development & management, disaster response & recovery, livestock & agriculture project management, quality assurance, monitoring & evaluation and communication & coordination with GOB & different donor agencies.
Mr. Islam has been serving in GUK from the beginning of his career and developed & established GUK Enterprises and GUK Infrastructure Development Limited (GIDL) a sister concern of GUK. He has been overseeing GUK Eye Hospital and different development projects & programs. He participated in over 15 different types of trainings and 12 different types of international workshop, seminar & conference in Bangladesh, India, Sri-Lanka, China, Japan, Thailand, United Arab Emirate, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia.
Mr. Islam holds B.Sc. (Hons) in Chemistry from the National University and MBA in Human Resource Management from American World University, USA.

Md Raihanus Saadat
Director (ICT and Risk Management)
Mr. Raihanus Saadat is the director of ICT & Digitalization of GUK since 1st January, 2020. He brought immense experience of more than one and half decade of information and communication technology, financial planning and analysis and data science and analytics from telecommunication industry.
Mr. Saadat started his career as a lecturer in the department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in American International University – Bangladesh, in 2003. Then he moved to telecommunication industry in 2004 by joining with Grameen Phone. Later on, Mr. Saadat moved to Banglalink where he assumed the responsibility of project management of intelligent network and mobile data service (GPRS), led the network experience management team and worked as a financial business partner in financial planning and analysis department. He also gained overseas experience from Orascom Telecom Holding in Egypt, Djessy in Algeria, Wind Telecommunication in Italy, Alpha mobile in Lebanon and Dell Technologies in Malaysia.
Mr. Saadat holds a bachelors degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), an executive MBA from Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of Dhaka University and an MSc. in Data Science and Analytics from University Science Malaysia. He also received executive education from London Business School in 2008-10, completed short courses on Leadership & Management from Harvard Business School Online in 2021-2022 and attended many training courses in home and abroad.
Mr. Saadat is a lifetime member of IEB and a member of Data Science Association, USA.

Md. Humayun Khaled
Director (SMAP)
Md. Humayun Khaled has been working in the Development sector for more than 26 years and gained in-depth understanding and experience in, planning, budgeting, business plan preparation, project design, monitoring & implementation, and human resource management. Presently, he is working in Gram Unnayan (GUK) Karma as Director (Admin & Internal Audit). He has a good track record in the field of Microfinance & Development programme and contributed to make policy, strategy, and operational level. He has proven experience of large-scale Microfinance and Development program operation, liaison with donor and resource mobilization. Besides, he has gathered practical experience in partnership development at the community and institutional level. He has acquired vast experience and knowledge on large scale development program, community development, health, agriculture, education, food security, gender equality & diversity and economic empowerment to ensure the sustainable livelihood for the rural poor, during the time of his service tenure.
Prior to join at GUK he had served at RDRS Bangladesh as Director (Administration & general services) Director (Field Operations), Director (Microfinance programme) and Head of Microfinance programme.
Besides, he was the Executive committee member of BNF (Bangladesh NGO Federation) and general committee member of Rangpur chamber of commerce.
He was awarded Danida Fellowship course at Alborg technical school and college in Denmark, and received Leadership Academy at Thunderbird School of Global Management from Arizona, USA.
It was a tremendous opportunity for him to attend various types of professional training in the country and abroad as well.

Md. Abu Raihan Miah
Director (Internal Audit)
Md. Abu Raihan Miah joined as Director in Gram Unnayan Karma (GUK) in November, 2016 having around 20 years of experience in microfinance operation & management, microenterprise operational & development management, partnership management, business plan preparation & budgeting of microfinance program, livelihoods & market linkage development, poverty alleviation, capacity development & training, ICT development & software management, monitoring & evaluation, audit & risk management and Organizational change management & development.
Prior to joining in GUK, Mr Abu Raihan Miah gathered extensive experience and expertise through working in Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) as Deputy Manager (Operations) and DaySring Limited (the first partner of Project Management Institute-PMI, USA in BD) as Head of Opportunities. Mr Abu Raihan Miah completed his B.A (Hons) & M.A in English Literature from the University of Dhaka. He participated in over 25 different types of trainings and 20 different types of international workshops & seminars in Bangladesh, India, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Khorshed Alam
Joint Director, Finance and Accounts
Mr. Khorshed Alam joined as Deputy Director (Finance & Accounts) in Gram Unnayan Karma (GUK) in October, 2017 and has over 6 years of experience in Finance & Accounts, Auditing & Tax advisory service.
Prior to joining in GUK, Mr. Khorshed Alam gathered extensive experience and expertise working for Finance & Accounts, Auditing & Internal Control. During his chartered accountants article ship period as an external Audit supervisor he was visited various national and multinational company, Bank, NBFI, Insurance, NGO & Local governance etc.
Mr. Alam completed his B.B.S (honors) & M.B.S (Accounting) from National University of Bangladesh, and completed Chartered Accountancy Course from reputed chartered Accountancy Firm under ICAB. Also Mr. Alam is part qualified chartered accountants from ICAB and qualified ITP holder from NBR.
